The Flash

The CW Network TV series, The Flash plays like a classic superhero tale that the whole family can enjoy. My daughters (13 and 11) and I watched several episodes together this past weekend and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. As a superhero story it has everything going for it that one would expect. It’s about a likeable guy who gets extraordinary powers and ends up being a really cool superhero. Our hero, Barry Allen is surrounded by colorful characters that add lots of relationship drama that compliments the good hero verses bad villain plotlines. I thought the show did a good job of balancing … Continue reading The Flash

Who is Ant Man?

Another Marvel superhero comes to the big screen this week. He’s Ant-Man, a name that is not exactly a household name like Spider Man, Superman or Batman. Marvel Comic book fans will instantly identify Ant-Man as one of the founding members of The Avengers. That fact alone gives us an important clue as to why Ant-Man is being deemed important enough to be given his own big-budget movie. We can expect to see him joining Iron Man, Captain America and the rest in upcoming Avengers films. It’s already been confirmed that Ant-Man will be in the upcoming film, Captain America: Civil War, … Continue reading Who is Ant Man?

Howard The Duck is Back!

One of my earliest creative influences was an off-beat Marvel comic book series called Howard The Duck. The original series ran from 1976 – 1979. Sure, I loved the superhero comics of the day, but for some reason, this strange series about a talking duck with a bad attitude, trapped on a planet where he doesn’t belong, instantly became my favorite. I counted the days every month, waiting for the next issue. I learned to draw by copying some of my favorite Howard the Duck scenes onto paper. I found one of my drawings in my attic (drawn when I was 13) … Continue reading Howard The Duck is Back!

Marvel vs DC Epic

This is only a fantasy movie, but it’s a really fun fantasy, so why not indulge a little. What if there were a movie that pitted Marvel superheroes against DC superheroes? I don’t think it will every happen, but the trailer below allows us to dream a little. It’s created by fan, Alex Luthor. It’s very well made with sharp editing, great music, and clips of probably every superhero that’s hit the big screen in the last 10 years. There are even a few who, I’m pretty sure, have only appeared in trailers, no actual movies yet. There’s even one … Continue reading Marvel vs DC Epic

Watch Glazed Man Come to Life

Glazed Man & Rat Girl, THE BOOK TRAILER For the last few months of my life, every precious extra moment I’ve had has been devoted to putting together the video above. It’s the official book trailer for Glazed Man & Rat Girl. Please readers, watch it and give me your feedback. I think you’ll find that it’s unlike any other book trailer you’ve seen. Many of you may not know that my day job is as a video producer. When I decided to make a book trailer, I knew I had to do it right or not at all. I’ve seen far … Continue reading Watch Glazed Man Come to Life

A Great Gift For Young Readers

Consider giving the young reader in your family a book he or she will absolutely love. My book, Glazed Man & Rat Girl is a chapter book with 100 illustrations. It’s full of humor and non-stop action. The response I’ve gotten over and over from parents is that their child enjoyed Glazed Man & Rat Girl thoroughly, reading it from cover to cover faster than they would normally read a book. Glazed Man & Rat Girl is not only for kids. Adults who like a good satire will also enjoy my book. It is essentially a spoof on all things “superhero”. I had a good time writing … Continue reading A Great Gift For Young Readers

BIG HERO 6 – My Review

Big Hero 6, the new movie by Walt Disney Animation Studios, was a big hit with me and my kids. The story is set in the future when robotic technology is revolutionizing everything. Our hero, named “Hero”, is one of several kids we’re introduced to in the movie, who are gifted robotic designers/engineers. When Hero’s big brother is killed in a tragic fire, Hero becomes depressed and purposeless. Until he discovers two things; the evil villain who was responsible for his brother’s death, and the lovable robot named Baymax that was his brother’s life achievement. Along the way Hero enlists the help … Continue reading BIG HERO 6 – My Review

Black Panther Revealed

Marvel Studios made several exciting announcements today about upcoming movies that will further develop the Marvel universe. Some of the announcements involved familiar names from the Avengers, and some were about new names to the big screen. Names that Marvel Comics fans will instantly recognize but film fans will have to get to know. Of note were upcoming movies for Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and The Black Panther. I will try to highlight the others in future blog posts, but let’s look at the character that, I think, is most exciting; The Black Panther. The first picture is the way he looked in … Continue reading Black Panther Revealed
