Cinderella is Enchanting

I took my two girls to see Disney’s new Cinderella movie this past weekend, and I’m not exaggerating when I say I loved the movie just as much, if not more, than they did. This is what I liked about it, in order of importance: 1. The character of Cinderella was portrayed with perfection. The acting by Lily James was spot on. She was the perfect blend of kindness, joyfulness, intelligence, and courage, just as Cinderella should be. Maleficent Movie Review

Maleficent takes an old fairy tale and magically turns it into a modern masterpiece. I saw it last night with my 10 year old daughter. We both gave Maleficent high marks. For anyone who is not already aware, Maleficent is the name of the evil witch that casts the sleeping spell on Sleeping Beauty. In the Disney classic animated movie from 1959 she is 100% evil, just like we expected all witches to be. Not so today. MALEFICENT New Trailer

It’s no secret that the villain often turns out more interesting than the hero. So, it makes perfect sense to re-tell a beloved fairy tale from the villain’s point of view. Insert an A-list actress and the best in make-up, computer graphics, and special effects and you should be well on your way to a big hit.
