A New Adventure

I’ve decided to take a break from writing fiction and shift my creativity toward something I’ve wanted to try for a long long time. I’ll be launching a web comic on November 1st of this year. In my younger days I would have said my dream was to produce a comic strip that would appear in newspapers. Something like one of my favorites, Calvin & Hobbes, Bloom County, and Far Side. Well, comic strips in that form don’t really exist anymore, at least not in newspapers. I started an Instagram account for my writing projects earlier this year and one of the many things I learned from that endeavor is that one of the up and coming new formats for comic strips is on Instagram. I was particularly impressed by their multi-panel feature that allows the reader to swipe through each panel one at a time. I saw this as the wave of the future for comic strips. It re-sparked my dream of creating my own comic strip and putting it out there for fans to find and follow.
Zany Superheroes
That brings me today, preparing to launch on November 1st. What, you might be asking is what is my web comic about? I decided to return to two characters that I established several years ago in my two first books, Glazed Man & Rat Girl. After completing my 2nd GM & RG book I often thought the series would make a great graphic novel. In other words, I wanted to do book 3 with all drawings and word bubbles rather than having pages of text in between the pictures. That is essentially what I’ll be doing with my new web comic. I’ll be creating book 3 in the GM & RG series, one web comic episode at a time. The story is continuous with each episode leading into the next. That means in a year or so, if things go as planned, I’ll have a complete story that I can compile and publish into book 3 in my Glazed Man & Rat Girl series, and best of all, it will be a full graphic novel.
That’s my plan anyway. For now, I’ve got my work cut out for me. I’m frantically drawing the panels, trying to build up enough drawings that I’ll be able to keep up when the web comic launches. It’s lots of work, but I’m loving every minute of it. I love the characters that I created for the first two books and I’m thrilled to see them coming back and doing new and ridiculous things in their new adventures.

Follow Me
You can help by going to Instagram and searching for “glazedmanandratgirl”. That should lead you straight to my new web comic. Be sure to follow it so you’ll make sure not to miss a single episode. Also, tell your friends, or mention it on Facebook, Twitter, or your blog. Any publicity is a big help.
Good luck with it! We should always try new things when we can.
