Legends of Oz; Dorothy’s Return, a new animated film is scheduled to come out this summer. It follows one of the later novels in the OZ series, written by Roger Stanton Baum in 1989. Roger is the great grandson of original author L. Frank Baum. According to an article at Entertainment Weekly.com, the story follows Dorothy as she goes back to Oz where she and her old pals, Scarecrow, Tinman, and the Cowardly Lion take on a new villain, The Jester.
Will it be good? There is alot of uncertainty about this one. The voice lineup is impressive. In the order that I’ve listed them above, the characters are voiced by Lea Michele, Dan Aykroyd, Kelsey Grammer, Jim Belushi, and Martin Short. Certainly, the original story is one of the most inspired Children’s fantasies of all time. But, the first trailer doesn’t look as impressive as I’d hoped. The animation looks second-rate for today’s standards, and the gags in the trailer look like they might be funny in context, but it’s hard to tell from here. I’m hoping the movie turns out to be better than the trailer. The trailer is below. I’d love to get your comments. The full article at Entertainment Weekly can be found here.
