No Pixar Movie Until 2015?

Are they kidding? Watching the newest Pixar movie has been a highlight of every year for me since the original Toy Story came out in 1995. And now they’ve announced that the next movie won’t come out until the summer of 2015? How can Pixar do this to us?splat red

Originally they were scheduled to release a new title this summer (2014) called The Good Dinosaur. The early marketing material looks great for this, their first original storyline release since Brave in 2012. good-dinosaur-posterHowever, Pixar recently announced that Dinosaur was being pushed back due to “creative delays”. It is now scheduled to be released in November of 2015. The good news is we’ll get two new movies from Pixar in that year. “Inside Out” will come out in the summer of 2015. That one is a story told from inside an emotion-filled brain of a little girl. Here is some concept art from that movie. inside-out-concept-art-666Both of these new movies from Pixar sound great. I’m not even all that worried about The Good Dinosaur’s creative problems. I have alot of confidence in the team at Pixar. If they felt Dinosaur wasn’t ready for release then I trust them. And I’m also confident they’ll get it where it needs to be. The article in Time quotes Pixar president Ed Catmull as saying, “Nobody ever remembers the fact that you slipped a film, but they will remember a bad film”. Putting out quality films over quantity has always been the priority at Pixar and it shows. I am a little down about having to get through 2014 without a Pixar movie to enjoy, but then again, there’s always next year. Read the full article in Time.
