Actress Kirsten Dunst; “I feel like the feminine has been a little undervalued… We all have to get our own jobs and make our own money, but staying at home, nurturing, being the mother, cooking – it’s a valuable thing my mum created. … And sometimes, you need your knight in shining armor. I’m sorry. You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That’s why relationships work…”
Dunst made these comments in this month’s edition of Harper’s Bazaar in U.K. Of course the forces of modern-day hate have attacked Kirsten for stating her personal opinion. She has a right to her opinion, just like the people who are writing hateful articles about her have a right to their opinion. The difference is that Ms. Dunst is sharing her honest opinion and attacking nobody, while those attacking her are spreading hatred and trying to make sure the next actress that comes along with traditional values will be too afraid to open her mouth.
Personally, I find it very refreshing to hear a successful actress like Kirsten Dunst making a public statement that supports traditional femininity for women. She is obviously aware of the changing times and new freedoms that women enjoy, and it was not her intent, nor is it mine to suppress those choices for women. But, let’s also let our young women know that it’s ok to stay home if they choose. It’s also ok to let a man into their life. God designed men and women to help each other and to meet certain needs together. That’s a good thing.
